Occupational Therapy Services

Fine Motor Skills
Our OT's helps kids develop the small muscles in their hands and fingers needed for everyday tasks such as:
-
Holding a pencil or crayon
-
Using scissors
-
Buttoning, zipping, and tying shoes
-
Manipulating small objects like toys or puzzle pieces
These skills are critical for academic activities and independence in self-care.

Sensory Processing
Some children have difficulty processing and responding appropriately to sensory input. Our OT's can address:
-
Sensitivity to sounds, textures, lights, or touch
-
Seeking or avoiding sensory experiences (e.g., spinning, crashing, or avoiding messy play)
-
Improving focus and emotional regulation through sensory integration techniques
Therapists use play-based activities to help children better understand and respond to sensory input.

Self-Care and Daily Living Skills
Also called "activities of daily living" (ADLs), these are foundational for independence and include:
-
Dressing and grooming
-
Feeding (including utensil use and managing picky eating)
-
Toileting and hygiene routines
-
Routines like packing a backpack or organizing a workspace
Our OT's break tasks into manageable steps and use strategies to build independence.

Visual-Motor and Hand-Eye Coordination
This involves coordinating vision with body movement, crucial for tasks such as:
-
Writing and drawing
-
Catching or kicking a ball
-
Copying shapes or letters
-
Navigating space safely (e.g., on playground equipment)
OT activities strengthen the connection between what a child sees and how their body responds.
